You certainly surprised when reading the title of this news. Just like my surprise when I first read from the source. I am aware of the negative information about cigarettes and smoking habits crammed to us long ago. Most of attributing the adverse effects of cigarette smoke and substances contained therein for human health. The information received by the public who lay on the research and studies as absolute truth is incontrovertible.

But not so with the scientists. In accordance with the field of science they conduct research about the effects of smoking and smoking for the health rationale to depart from neutral. They tried to dig there any benefits of the substances contained in cigarette to human health, which has been given a negative stigma widely.

This news certainly did not intend to invite you to start smoking or continue your habit of sucking tobacco smoke. But it is your right to believe or not that nicotine and other substances that are also derived from nature and are in cigarettes also have utility.

Benefits of Smoking and the Research

Here is some research that reveals the benefits of smoking to human health. I am not a doctor or a researcher in health, so the scientific discussion about the contents of this message could be debated by the experts themselves.

1. Smoking Reducing the Risk of Parkinson's

Ample evidence to show that smoking against Parkinson's disease. A recent study adds strong evidence of previous reports that smoking can protect humans from Parkinson's disease. In particular, the new research shows a temporal relationship between smoking and a reduced risk of Parkinson's disease. That is, the protective effect against Parkinson reduced after smokers give up the habit of smoking.

Another study on the positive effects of smoking on Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a study of 113 pairs of male twins. The research team led by Dr Tanner continued to see a significant difference when the dose is calculated to 10 or 20 years before diagnosis. They conclude that these findings refute the claim that people who smoke tend to have PD. There are many other studies on the smoking habits is useful against Parkinson.

2. Smokers are more powerful and faster recovery from heart attack and stroke

Major study showing the benefits of smoking, the benefits to restenosis, or narrowing of the arteries that causes blood flow to be restricted, such as blood vessels to the heart (cardiovascular disease) or brain (stroke) Smokers have a much better chance of survival and healing more fast.

Other studies mentioned carbon monoxide can reduce heart attack and stroke. Carbon monoxide is a byproduct of tobacco smoke. A report showed very low levels of carbon monoxide can help the victims of heart attack and stroke. Carbon monoxide inhibits blood clotting, thereby dissolve dangerous clots in the arteries. The researchers focused on the close resemblance between carbon monoxide with nitric oxide that keep blood vessels dilated and prevent the accumulation of white blood cells. More recently nitric oxide has been upgraded from a regular air pollutants become the second most important physiological link internally.

Therefore, it would not be surprising if carbon monoxide is, paradoxically, could save the lungs from injury caused by a blockage of blood vessels to the heart (cardiovascular blockage).

3. Smoking reduces the risk of gum disease severe shrinkage

It used to be mentioned that tobacco is the root of all the problems of dental and oral diseases. In fact, a study showed that smokers actually lower risk of gum disease.

4. Smoking prevent asthma and other allergic diseases due

A study of two generations of Swedish residents demonstrated in the analysis of multi variety, some children of mothers who smoked at least 15 cigarettes a day is likely to have a lower chance of suffering from allergic rhino-conjunctivitis, allergic asthma, atopic eczema and food allergies, compared with children of mothers who never smoked. Children of fathers who smoked at least 15 cigarettes a day had the same tendency.

5. Nicotine kills germs that cause tuberculosis (TB)

One day Nicotine might be a surprising alternative as TB medicines that are difficult to treat, says a researcher from the University of Central Florida (UCF). This compound stopped the growth of TB bacteria in a laboratory test, even when used in small amounts, said Saleh Naser, a professor of microbiology and molecular biology at UCF. Most scientists agree that nicotine is a substance that causes people to become addicted to smoking.

6. Smoking is a rare skin cancer prevention

A researcher at the National Cancer Institute found that smoking can prevent the development of skin cancer that afflicts mainly older people in the Mediterranean region of southern Italy, Greece and Israel. Not that smoke is advisable for this population, said Dr. James Goedert, but what is important is tobacco smoking can help to prevent a rare form of cancer. And this is a recognition of researchers at the National Cancer Institute found no benefit from smoking.

7. Smoking reduces risk of breast cancer

A new study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (May 20, 1998) reported that carriers of specific gene mutation (which tend to be carriers of breast cancer), who smoked for more than 4 pack years (ie, the number of packs per day multiplied by the number of length of years of smoking ) according to statistics turned out to be significantly decreased by 54 percent in the incidence of breast cancer when compared with carriers who never smoked. One of the strengths of this study are that the reduction in the incidence exceeds the threshold of 50 percent.

8. Nitric Oxide in reducing nicotine colitis

Nicotine reduces the circular muscle activity, particularly through the release of nitric oxide, in the case of ulcerative colitis (UC) or colitis. These findings may explain some of the therapeutic benefits of nicotine (and smoke) to UC and can explain the dysfunction of colonic propulsion in active disease.

9. Effects of transdermal nicotine on cognitive performance (think) with Down Syndrome

A study on the effect of stimulation of nicotine-agonist with 5 mg of skin tissue implant, as compared with placebo (control drug), on cognitive performance in five adults with the disorder. Repairs may be associated with attention and information processing that is seen in patients with Down syndrome compared with controls health.

Down syndrome is a disease caused by abnormalities on chromosome 21 in the bands Q22 SLC5A3 gene, which can be known by looking at a fairly typical clinical manifestations. The disorder which affects the physical and mental growth retardation of children was first recognized in 1866 by Dr. John Longdon Down.

10. Smoking is good for pregnant women to prevent hypertension in pregnancy and mother-child transmission of Helicobacter pylori infection

Urinary cotinine concentration (tobacco metabolized in the body) to confirm the reduced risk of pre-eclampsia with exposure to tobacco exposure. Preeclampsia is a medical condition in which hypertension arises in pregnancy (gestational hypertension) in cooperation with a large number of proteins in the urine. This study, although small, demonstrates one of the benefits of smoking during pregnancy. "These findings, obtained using laboratory test, confirm a reduced risk of developing preeclampsia with tobacco exposure (Am J Obstet Gynecol 1999 ;. 181: 1192-6.)

Another study found a strong inverse association between maternal smoking mothers and Helicobacter pylori infection among preschool children, which indicated the possibility that the mother-child transmission of the infection may be less efficient if the mother smokes. To evaluate this hypothesis further, conducted a population-based studies where H. pylori infection was measured by 13C-urea breath test (urea breath test content) in 947 preschool children and their mothers. We obtain detailed information about potential risk factors for infection, including maternal smoking, using a standard questionnaire. Overall, 9.8% (93 of 947) of the children and 34.7% (329 of 947) of the mothers had been infected. Prevalence (the ratio of the number of disease events with units in the population at risk) infection is much lower among children of uninfected mothers (1.9%) than in children of infected mothers (24.7%). There is a strong inverse relationship infection of children with mothers who smoked (odds ratio or deviation adjusted = 0.24; 95% confidence interval = 0.12 to 0.49) among children of infected mothers, but not in among children of infected mothers. These results support the hypothesis of a major role for mother-child transmission in the form of H. pylori infection, which may be less efficient if the mother smoked.

Perhaps you suspect that the research was funded by the tobacco companies. But this research has not been published widely, if it aims to support the promotion of cigarettes.
